US Bechtel has dubious reputation in WB (including US AMB in KOS leaving State Dept. to join Bechtel). US Embassy in Skopje has installed special team to combat endemic corruption in MK. Now Bechtel gets billion Euros job in MK, without proper tender. MK citizens loose all trust. https://t.co/j46kbsCAec

US pressure mounting on MK GOV. Many Macedonian citizens are fed up with all the corruption/cronyism/crime yet also foreign factors which they perceive as interfering with domestic affairs and acting imperialistic. Effect is more dissatisfaction, polarization and brain drain. https://t.co/AJqzpXe5hI

@USAmbNMacedonia Like the EU AMB not one reference to the country that was responsible for the deportation of Macedonian/Thracian Jewish citizens. Ignoring such 'incovenient truth' encourages BG to whitewash its own history and determine what is the 'correct' Macedonian history/identity/language.

MK foreign policy appears split into 2 camps: MFA Minister Osmani signing ALB/MNE/KOS/MK Quad Initiative (no SRB/no tangible results yet) and PM Kovacevski signing Open Balkans/bilateral agreements with SRB. Exclusive vs inclusive. What is wisdom? Can one exist next to the other?

@JosepBorrellF @SPendarovski Macedonian citizens are tired of EU that always demands more from MK (if not reform then unfair/biased proposals, without reciprocity, and thus loss of identity/history etc) plus neighbours that also always ask for more (unilateral concessions). MK citizens have had enough by now

Shortly after mafia shootouts; border frauds and BI writing last week on the ALB-MK-SRB cannabis triangle and OSCE in Skopje/MK GOV promising to tougher fight crime here is the outcome: closer border controls you'd expect, but instead no border checks at all. Criminals celebrate. https://t.co/J4eZFse1iB

@KubaBielamowicz @JakovMilatovic 'Serbian satellite' is perhaps somewhat strongworded, taking into account that ethnic Albanians in MNE have become more vocal and influential (including PM). The 'Milo' era has seen various stances, whatever suited his personal interests best. Milatović lacks his power network.

@laz_lk @JasonMiko @MickoskiHM Mickoski is playing games like all the others, and said he could imagine VMRO agreeing to the letter and spirit of the Croation Constitution: one nation and various minorities, knowing that the biggest group not in the majority (ethnic Albanians) in MK would never accept this.

@laz_lk @JasonMiko @MickoskiHM Ethnic Albanians use each and every potential Constitution change as bargaining chip: for every consent in change they want something in return, with regard to their status in MK to impress their constituency. The latter however is fed up with all the corruption/cronyism/crime.

@laz_lk @JasonMiko @MickoskiHM There are many more games and players, but in all cases it goes to the detriment of the citizens who see high empty promises next to high inflation and deteriorating economy, education, environment, health care while MK GOV heavily buys US military equipment and prefers Bechtel.

@laz_lk @JasonMiko @MickoskiHM The days of Zaev (signing off Pirin Macedonia, Aegean Macedonia and selling whatever nationalist neighbours demand) are over and political engineering/US games used for 'Prespa' are not possible to the same extent. Citizens are dissatisfied and leave the country, or will protest.

@laz_lk @JasonMiko @MickoskiHM While all these games continue, BG sees how Macedonian-Serbian relations improve since COVID emerged. Bulgarian nationalist narratives/initiatives (Tsar Boris III etc) backfire and Macedonian-Bulgarian relations are frozen. EU, especially after the FR proposal, lost credibility.

@JasonMiko @starmarsovec The centre is, was and will remain Tiranë. Certainly as long as Edi Rama is in charge.

@laz_lk @JasonMiko @MickoskiHM Kovacevski plays the personal (ad hominem) card & blames his opponent blocking Constitution change for career reasons + his party for being anti-EU and anti-Western. In reality the EU and the Western countries thereof have often been anti-Macedonian, while MK bent over backwards.

Obviously SRB-MK agreements, both within the Open Balkans framework & bilateral agreements, close COVID cooperation, religious compromise etc has tightened SRB-MK relations. This is in part related to the poor BG-MK relations. Sofia complained about/yet also advanced SRB-MK links

@UKinRNMacedonia @UKTradeWBalkans Who would have thought that British Rail would operate as the shining light role model on the European continent?
